We WILL Prevail…We ARE Virginia Tech

Two years ago today, a tragedy occurred in Blacksburg, VA; the event is now called the “Virginia Tech Massacre.” NSCS remembers…I remember…we shall never forget.

As you may or may not know, I graduated from Virginia Tech, I am a die-hard Hokie and Blacksburg is one of my favorite places on this Earth. What happened two years ago was extremely painful – to have watched something so horrific happening in a place that I absolutely love, adore and still call my home, was unfathomable.

If you watched any of the media surrounding the event, I hope you were able to see the amazing pride and dignity that came through among the Virginia Tech community; it is a pride that has been a special part of my life for the last 13 years and that has only grown stronger since April 16, 2007.

I truly believe that it is important for us show our support today, whether by wearing our Maroon and Orange, posting the VT ribbon on our Facebook pages or by participating in a memorial event. We need to remember how blessed we are to be here today with the opportunity to reach our goals…and 32 people are not.

In case you did not see or read the speech that Nikki Giovanni delivered at the Virginia Tech memorial service, here is the video – it is truly inspirational and a testament to the Hokie spirit.

I hope you have a wonderful and meaningful day. God bless the Hokies – We Will Prevail!
