Education: You never know when you might need it.

I was reading the new book from John F. Kennedy’s speech writer, Ted Sorenson, Counselor. In it, he talks about his time during the Cuban Missile crisis, and how, in his mid-thirties, Sorenson found himself negotiating the fate of the entire Western world.

Being so young, and not having any previous experience to draw upon, he went back to the days he was in high-school debate. Remembering these skills, he worked with the Russian side to safely bring the conflict to a close.

It just goes to show you that what you learn now, even the smallest things, can make a big difference later on in life. If you want to hone your own negotiating skills, you can start here.
